This Day In History

February 8, 1915

The first box office hit Birth Of A Nation opens up in theaters. For those who don't know about the movie it is a silent movie about the Civil War and Reconstruction eras in American. It changed the film industry because before it came out films were just short little things but Birth Of A Nation was a three hour idolization of the Ku Klux Klan. Yes the Ku Klux Klan were the heroes of the first major film in American history. It was an incredibly racist film and was even viewed by then President Woodrow Wilson at the White House. I have only seen clips of the movie and my personal favorite part was when it showed black members of Congress sitting there eating chicken and watermelon chasing and terrorizing white women. Not much has changed in terms of stereotypes. I wish Dave Chappelle did some kind of skit pertaining to this. Btw anyone notice that history breaks down to his-story. Interesting to me but i guess it's either because only men wrote about history back in the day or because humans are known as mankind, shout out to mick foley, so humans were merely telling the story of man.
